First to know is their feelings about the late president, Mr. Yassir Arafat, and how much they miss him one year after his departure on 11.11.2004. The second important issue is the calm period with Israel and the question of the PA sovereignty. The third is Hadera bombing attack and the peace with Israel, and last not least, the fourth issue of the Palestinians attitude towards the European Community controlling the borders between Gaza and Egypt. With our good wishes and best regards, Dr. Nabil Kukali One year after the departure of the late president Yassir Arafat, a public opinion poll prepared by Dr. Nabil Kukali and published by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) has revealed that: (79.8%) Believe that the position of the late President Yassir Arafat is (73.5%) Are missing the late President Yassir Arafat one year after (59.9%) Agree to the renewal of the calm period with Israel. (61.0%) Trust the European Community to control and administer (72.1%) Support at various degrees the PA President Mr. Mahmoud From Majd Kokaly – Information Section In the latest poll prepared by Dr. Nabil Kukali and published by PCPO during the period from (5 – 8) November 2005, a random sample of 825 adult Palestinians over 18 years old representing the various demographic specimen from the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip has been face to face interviewed. The survey result has revealed that (73.5%) of the Palestinians are missing the late President Yassir Arafat one year after his departure. "The most important finding the poll has disclosed is that the majority of the Palestinians feel the position of late president Yassir Arafat is still firm in their intuition", Dr. Kukali said. "The majority of the Palestinians also, namely (59.9%), support the renewal of the calm period with Israel expiring at the end of this current year", Dr. Kukali added. It is furthermore established that there is a fall in the support of the calm period at the rate of (17%) compared with the previous poll. This could be attributed to the Israeli actions, such as the shelling of Gaza and the siege of the towns and villages in the West Bank; add thereto the house raids, assassinations, detentions and the road blocks. The results of this present poll reveal also that the response to the renewal of the calm period is among the citizens of Gaza Strip with (75.1%) remarkably higher than that in the West Bank at (51.2%) He further pointed out that the overwhelming majority of the Palestinians trusts the European Community as controller of the borders between Gaza and Egypt and that (61%) support to different extents President Mahmoud Abbas. Dr. Kukali concluded his comments by saying that (70%) of the Palestinians disagree with the recent Hadera bombing. “All interviews took place on the basis of random choices of respondent’s homes, i.e. face to face”, Mr. Elias Kukali, a staff member of the Research & Studies Section at the PCPO, said. The choices were takes from a total of (120) election sites. These election sites are randomly chosen by using the method of the simple random sample. These sites in turn were the beginning of the random sample choice made from those regions in accordance with PCPO’s long experienced methodology. The sampling error throughout the survey is found at (± 3.41%). Elias Kukali added "the percentage of female respondents was (48.8%) whereas that of the male respondents reached (51.2%). He said that the composition of the sample according to the type of residence was as follows: (48.7%) city, (34.8%) village, (16.5%) refugee camp. Elias kukali added that the distribution of the random sample among the residential areas of the respondents was (64%) in the West Bank, incl. East Jerusalem, and (36%) in Gaza Strip. 5) In an interview with PNA (Palestinian News Agency), President Mahmoud Abbas said that "the elections of the Palestinian Legislative Council with a wide political participation will put, must put an ultimate end to the different other legislations. It will not be tolerated any more - after the PLC-elections and after the people have said their word - that somebody wears the garments of another by any kind of legislation except that resulting from the ballot-boxes". Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
6) The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Franco Feni, said in a press interview that "the PA President Mr. Mahmoud Abbas is the only one who is capable of achieving peace with Israel. There is no better negotiator than him". Do you agree with him about that statement, or not?

10) Bregadier-general Jibreel El-Rujoub, the PA-president's counselor for security affairs, said that "any reaction to Israeli practices in Gaza and the West Bank falls under the competence of the Palestinian Authority", criticizing thereby the attacks carried out by the militant factions as retaliation for the Israeli aggressions. 11) In a declaration published by IMRA Press Institution, the Israeli Minister of Defence Shaoul Mofaz, said on Wednesday, 02.11.2005, that "Israel will not prevent Hamas from participating in the coming PLC elections".
